UNC Basketball: Tar Heels offer 2017 power forward Garrison Brooks
Just a few days ago North Carolina had an in-home visit with 2017 power forward Garrison Brooks and decided to extend out a scholarship offer.
The 4-star prospect was quick to respond as he set up an official visit at Chapel Hill on October 7th.
As you may know, Carolina is in need of some front-court depth and they believe that Brooks could provide them with just that.
At 6-foot-9, some people view him as a center, but he is generally classified as a power forward due to his ability to knock down mid-range shots.

Brooks has reportedly shut down all interviews until after his commitment, and he is not planning on cutting down his list.
Carolina is currently his only scheduled official visit, but that could change soon as he is receiving interest from the likes of Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi St. (the school his father is an assistant coach at), and many more.
Although, despite his ties to the more southern colleges (Mississippi St. in particular), the Tar Heels seem to be a heavy favorite for this high-ceilinged prospect.
The Alabama native really started to excel this summer as he averaged 18 ppg and 8 rpg for Team Carroll on the Adidas Circuit.
Brooks was originally watched by assistant coach Hubert Davis, and he was very excited to introduce Roy to this big man on the rise.
This is the seventh power forward that has been offered in the 2017 class, and is probably not the last. Brooks is also the third tier III power forward Carolina has offered alongside Isaiah Stokes and Brandon Huffman.
This appears to be a first come first serve type of situation since the Tar Heels have no need for more than power forward off the bench in this class.
Although Stokes and Huffman do have certain appealing qualities, Brooks seems to be the best of the three due to his higher ceiling.
When comparing Brooks to a former Tar Heel, think along the lines of a Brice Johnson, just not as developed.
