UNC Basketball is getting a new look with the jerseys they will wear this upcoming season

When the North Carolina Tar Heels take the court for the first time in the 2016-17 season, they will have a new look. Well, sort of.

With familiar faces Marcus Paige, Brice Johnson and Joel James gone, the Tar Heels are welcoming some more new faces to the team. But that’s not the biggest change.

During the Tar Heels annual media day on Tuesday, the team showed off their new jerseys. Yep, I said it.

New jerseys for the upcoming season.

Before you freak out, the changes are big. Just a few tweaks here and there but they are very noticeable.

Let’s start with the new look.

UNC is a Jordan Brand/Nike school and one of the programs that is getting a new tailor cut for Nike outfitted jerseys as ESPN’s UniWatch blog pointed out. Take a look:

Take a look at last year’s version of the jersey:

But the tailoring on the shoulder isn’t the only thing. UNC also added the logo on the waistband and a notch on the front of the shorts as you can see below:

The new look might take some time to get used to, but overall I don’t think it’s terrible. Duke and Kentucky have both gone with the new look as recently as last season.

You’ll get another look at the uniforms at UNC’s annual Late Night With Roy event which takes place on Friday. Then again during this season which opens up in November.
