Kennedy Meeks makes some UNC history during the Tar Heels win over Chattanooga on Sunday

They have looked impressive through the two games, blowing out both opponents to tipoff their season.

On Sunday, the Tar Heels beat Chattanooga 97-57 behind the efforts of several players. But it was a special moment for one senior.

Center Kennedy Meeks turned in another nice performance, scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds.

With his XX points, Meeks officially eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in his UNC career. The points occurred on free throws in the second half with the game out of reach.

Meeks is the 73rd Tar Heel to score at least 1,000 points and the only one on currently on the active roster.

The center was under some criticism last season as some even suggested the Tar Heels bench the big man. But Meeks didn’t let that bother him as he was a key piece in the Tar Heels Final Four run.

It will be interesting to see how head coach Roy Williams rolls with the front court, which features a ton of talent. Williams has the options to go to Meeks, Tony Bradley Jr., Isaiah Hicks and Luke Maye down low.

Meeks had 15 rebounds in the Tar Heels big win over Tulane on Friday.

The Tar Heels will now host Long Beach State on Tuesday before heading to Hawaii to take on Hawaii and play in the Maui Invitational.
