UNC Asheville pulls away from King (Tenn.) 90-72

D.J. Cunningham scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as North Carolina-Asheville defeated King (Tenn.) 90-72 on Thursday night.

Matt Dickey scored a team-high 21 points and J.P. Primm added 17 for the Bulldogs (5-5), who shot 56.1 percent from the floor (32 of 57) and led by as many as 21.

Cunningham was 9 of 11 from the floor (81.8 percent).

The Tornado (6-7) were led by Mark Dockery, who scored a career-high 30 points on 6-of-15 shooting from 3-point range (40 percent) and grabbed seven rebounds.

King, a Division II team, led 28-27 with 7:48 to go in the opening half, but eight straight points from the Bulldogs and a 23-9 run to end the half put the Tornado in a 50-37 hole at halftime.

Jason Seymore scored 15 points and Clarence Smith added 12 for the Tornado.

UNC Asheville outrebounded King 44-24 and outscored the Tornado in the paint 46-26.
