Raphiael Putney and Chaz Williams scored 19 points apiece, leading Massachusetts to an 85-75 win over Charlotte on Wednesday night.

Terrell Vinson added 18 points and Sean Carter 15 for the Minutemen (13-4, 2-1 Atlantic-10 Conference), who have won seven of their last eight games. UMass got back on track after having its season-high six-game losing snapped the last time out, 82-75 on Sunday at La Salle.

UMass opened the game on a 12-2 run and never looked back, leading for the entire contest. The Minutemen led by 11 points at halftime and held on despite being edged 42-41 in the second half by the 49ers.

Putney, whose scoring output was a career high, also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for UMass, which outrebounded Charlotte 36-25.

Chris Braswell scored 31 points to pace the 49ers (9-6, 2-1).
