UCLA forward Brendan Lane will have left ankle surgery next week and is expected to be out five months.

The school said Friday that the surgery is to repair damage Lane sustained from multiple injuries this season.

Lane initially sprained his ankle during the first week of practice in October and was sidelined for three weeks. During the season, he had two more sprains that caused him to miss a total of five games.

The freshman from Rocklin, Calif., averaged 2.4 points and 1.5 rebounds while making three starts.
