Shabazz Muhammad scored a career-high 25 points and UCLA rolled to a 95-53 victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday night for its third consecutive win.
Fellow freshman Kyle Anderson added a career-best 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Bruins (7-3), who were playing their first game since winning by two points at Texas a week ago. Muhammad made all six of his free throws in UCLA's biggest margin of victory this season.
After a 7-7 tie to start, the Bruins controlled the rest of the game, leading by 23 at halftime and doubling that advantage in the second half.
Ryan Gesiakowski made four 3-pointers in scoring 14 points, and Jourdan DeMuynck added 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Panthers (5-6), who had their two-game winning streak snapped in losing for the fifth time in eight games.
Muhammad scored seven of UCLA's first nine points. His layup snapped the 7-7 tie and launched the Bruins on a 39-16 run the rest of the half. Muhammad had eight points in the run, and Jordan Adams scored eight in a row as UCLA led 46-23.
Muhammad hit two 3-pointers and scored two more points in a 13-2 run that opened the second half and extended UCLA's lead to 59-25.
Larry Drew II, who had nine assists, and Anderson hit consecutive 3-pointers for a 76-42 lead.
Prairie View's Josh Eleby was called for two flagrant fouls in the second half, with Adams and then Muhammad ending up on the floor as a result.
UCLA scored 11 unanswered points in the final 5:48 before coach Ben Howland sat the rest of his starters.
The Bruins scored 30 points off Prairie View's 18 turnovers and shot 56 percent from the field. They scored their second-most points of the season, trailing only the 100 they had in a win over James Madison.
They improved to 2-0 over Prairie View in the series, which began in 2008.
