UC Santa Barbara edges Cal Poly 64-56

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) Alan Williams netted a double-double with 26 points and 19 rebounds as the University of California Santa Barbara beat Cal Poly 64-56 in the regular season finale for both teams.

John Green added 11 points for the Gauchos (18-12, 11-5) who head to the Big West championship tournament in Anaheim on March 12.

UC Santa Barbara took a 27-16 lead late in the first half with the help of a pair of 3-pointers by T.J. Taylor and a third by Gabe Vincent and the Gauchos were up 30-20 at halftime.

Cal Poly tied it up 43-43 midway through the second half on a 3-pointer by Michael Bolden but an Eric Childress trey and a layup by Green put the Gauchos back up 50-45 with 7:37 to play. A Green dunk with 1:16 left clinched the victory for Santa Barbara.

Brian Bennett led the Mustangs (13-15, 6-10) with 14 points.
