UC Davis hands Sacramento State its 2nd loss, 66-61

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) Neal Monson hit 3 of 4 from the free throw line in the final 49 seconds and Nolan Berry was 2 for 2 as UC Davis handed Sacramento State its second loss in its first seven games, 66-61, on Wednesday night.

Marcus Graves hit a 3-pointer to pull the Hornets even at 61-61 with 1:12 left but they could not take the lead. In fact, Sacramento State's only lead came barely 2 minutes into the contest when Nick Hornsby's jumper made it 2-0.

Dreon Bartlett missed a 3-point attempt with 7 seconds left that would have tied the game at 64-64.

Brynton Lemar led the Aggies (4-2) with 12 points, with Berry adding 11 and Josh Fox 10.

Justin Strings was 3 of 4 from beyond the arc and led Sacramento State with 16 points. Jeff Wu added 12 and Hornsby added 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
