Eddie Miller scored 20 points and Ryan Sypkens added 16 as UC Davis shot 55 percent in the second half to pull away from Southern Utah and record a 74-65 victory on Tuesday night.

Miller connected on 9 of 14 shots and Sypkens made 6 of 7 for the Aggies (5-7), who made 22 of 42 field-goal attempts (52 percent). UC Davis was 11-for-20 from the field in the second half.

Joe Harden scored 15 points and Mark Payne had 12 for the Aggies, who led 36-33 at the half. Payne, who made 10 of 12 free-throw attempts, moved into 13th place on UC Davis' all-time scoring list with 1,117 points, surpassing Jason Robedeaux (1983-88, 1,112) and Alan Steed (1967-70, 1,107). Payne, a senior guard who missed eight games last season due to injury, is second among the school's career assists leaders with 395.

Damon Heuir led the Thunderbirds (3-9) with a career-high 18 points while Jake Nielson added 12 and Matt Massey had 11.
