Ovie Soko scored 19 points and Alabama-Birmingham defeated South Alabama 82-58 on Tuesday night.
Cameron Moore added 17 points and Jamarr Sanders 14 for the Blazers (3-1). Soko, Moore and Sanders each led UAB with eight rebounds, with six of Soko's coming on the offensive end.
Martino Brock led South Alabama (2-2) with 19 points.
The Blazers nursed a three-point halftime lead, 36-33, but scored the first 10 points of the second half as Sanders scored on a dunk and on a 3-pointer. Moore added a layup and Robert Williams had a 3-pointer and UAB never allowed its lead to dip below double figures thereafter. The lead grew to 28 points.
Aaron Johnson had 12 assists for UAB and, despite having a poor shooting night from the field (1 of 8), he extended his free-throw streak to 18 in a row by making both his attempts.
