Tulsa uses 19-4 2nd half run to beat Temple, 55-39

TULSA, Okla. (AP) James Woodard scored 16 points and Rashad Smith added 13 points and 13 rebounds as Tulsa rolled over Temple, 55-39 Sunday.

Tulsa (19-7, 12-2 American) now has won 14 of its last 16 games and is 11-3 at home. The Golden Hurricane is a half-game behind SMU (13-2) and plays the Mustangs March 8.

Tulsa led by four at the break, 26-22, but opened the second half on a 19-4 run over the first 12 minutes of the second half.

Temple (19-9, 10-5) got a jumper from Jaylen Bond almost a minute into the period and he added a layup four minutes later. Will Cummings ended the eight-minute drought with a pair of free throws with 6:52 left to make it 45-28.

Cummings finished with 15 points for the Owls, who were 14 of 57 from the field (24.6 percent) and just 1 of 14 from distance.
