Tulsa holds off UTEP 65-60

EL PASO, Texas (AP) Shaquille Harrison scored 15 points as Tulsa held off Texas-El Paso 65-60 on Thursday.

Despite shooting 2 of 19 from beyond the arc, the Golden Hurricane (16-12, 11-3) tied for the Conference USA lead with three other teams, while UTEP (20-9, 10-4) dropped a game back.

Tulsa ended the first half with an 8-2 run and led 30-24 at the break.

The teams were tied at 48 with 6:05 left, but D'Andre Wright and Harrison made back-to-back buckets, then Harrison added a dunk to send Tulsa up by six. UTEP got it to three with 49 seconds left after a pair of Julian Washburn free throws but the Miners missed two 3-pointers in the last 30 seconds.

James Woodard added 13 points for Tulsa and Rashad Smith had 11 points.

John Bohannon led UTEP with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Julian Washburn had 14 points and Vince Hunter finished with 12.
