Tulane slips by Charlotte 64-63
NEW ORLEANS (AP) Jay Hook scored 18 points, including a free throw with 1.1 seconds left to send Tulane over Charlotte 64-63 Friday.
Hook corralled an offensive rebound off Jonathan Stark's missed jumper in the waning seconds and was fouled on his put-back attempt. After missing the first free throw, his second shot was the difference as Pierria Henry's desperation heave bounced off the rim.
Charlotte (14-8, 5-4 Conference USA) used a 10-3 run to tie the game at 63 on Terrence Williams' basket with 57 seconds remaining. Each team then turned the ball over before Tulane's final possession ended with Hook's free throw.
Louis Dabney led Tulane (12-11, 4-4) with 19 points. Hook was 3 of 5 from long range as Tulane hit 8 of 17 3-pointers.
Henry had 14 points and six assists for Charlotte. Willie Clayton added 13 points while Mike Thorne Jr. had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
