Troy 75, FIU 70
Emil Jones scored 17 points and Troy beat FIU 75-70 in overtime Thursday night, as the Trojans came out on the winning end this time after dropping an OT contest their last time out.
Jones' jumper with 2:40 to go in overtime marked the first basket of the extra period. The Trojans and Panthers then traded 3-pointers, but FIU's trey marked the only points it could muster in overtime as Troy iced it at the free-throw line for the final margin.
Troy (9-17, 4-11 Sun Belt Conference) was up 67-65 with less 30 seconds to go in regulation when Jeremy Allen hit a layup for FIU to tie it at 67-all.
The Trojans got off the final shot in regulation, but Will Weathers' layup attempt was blocked and Troy found itself in a second straight overtime game.
Phil Taylor had a game-high 20 points to pace the Panthers (7-20, 4-11).
