Junior Hairston scored 13 of his 24 points in a runaway first half on Friday night as Towson opened the game on a 15-0 run and never let up in a 73-62 victory against Drexel in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament. The Tigers (11-21), seeded 11th, limited Drexel to four first-half field goals, the first coming with 13:01 left in the half, and had a 34-9 lead 3 1/2 minutes before halftime. It was 39-14 at the break, and the sixth-seeded Dragons (15-14) got no closer than eight thereafter. Drexel was led by Tramayne Hawthorne, Scott Rodgers and Jamie Harris with 11 points each, but they were a combined 10-for-39 from the field as Drexel shot just 32.8 percent. Troy Franklin added 13 points, Rocky Coleman had 11 and Jarrel Smith 10 for the Tigers, who beat the Dragons for the first time in three tries this season.
