Tillman scores 27 and VCU blows out Fordham, 88-54
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Justin Tillman scored 14 of his career-high 27 points during an 8 1/2-minute burst in the first half and VCU stretched its winning streak to seven games with an 88-54 blowout against Fordham on Wednesday night.
Melvin Johnson added 15 points for the Rams (12-5, 4-0 Atlantic 10), whose only losses have come against ranked or Power Five conference teams. The Rams outscored Fordham 32-11 over the last 13:11 of the first half to take a 47-19 lead into the intermission and didn't let up a bit after halftime.
Mandell Thomas scored 13 to lead Fordham (10-5, 1-3), which shot under 30 percent for much of the game and committed 18 turnovers.
Tillman, who also grabbed 10 rebounds, made 11 of 14 shots to easily eclipse his previous high of 18 points earlier this season.
