Thompson, North Texas beats Louisiana-Monroe 79-62

Tristan Thompson scored a career-high 30 points to lead North Texas over Louisiana-Monroe 79-62 on Thursday night.

Thompson was 10 of 12 from the field, including 5 of 6 from 3-point range in his first start since Jan. 5.

Thompson scored 13 of North Texas' first 18 points as it rode the strong start to a 34-28 lead at halftime.

The Mean Green (15-4, 4-2 Sun Belt Conference) then led the entire second half in their eighth straight win over the Warhawks (6-14, 1-5).

Kendrick Hogans added 12 points, and his two blocks moved him into fifth place on North Texas' career list with 71. George Odufuwa added 11 points and Dominique Johnson had 10 for the Mean Green, who shot 57.4 percent from the field (27 of 47).

Tommie Sykes and Lawrence Gilbert led Louisiana-Monroe with 15 points each. Fred Brown chipped in 13.
