The Citadel 65, Georgia Southern 52

Bryan Streeter, Austin Dahn and Zach Urbanus scored 13 points apiece as The Citadel defeated Georgia Southern 65-52 in their Southern Conference opener on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs (2-4) used a 17-for-30 shooting effort (56.7 percent) to build a 38-20 halftime lead. The Citadel opened the second half on a 9-5 run, pushing its lead to 22, 47-25, with 16:38 remaining.

The Eagles (2-6) reeled off the next seven points and ended the game on a 27-18 run. Georgia Southern shot 17 of 53 from the field (32.1 percent), including 3 of 18 from 3-point range (16.7 percent) en route to its fifth consecutive loss.

Ben Drayton led the Eagles with 14 points, while Eric Ferguson added 13.

Streeter pulled down 10 rebounds for The Citadel as the Bulldogs held a 43-30 edge on the glass.

Cameron Wells scored 10 points, had nine rebounds and eight assists for the Bulldogs.
