Cameron Wells scored 18 of his team-leading 22 points in the second half to help The Citadel overcome a 13-point deficit and beat Samford 61-50 on Monday night.

The Citadel (6-13, 2-5 Southern Conference) trailed 38-25 with 15:01 left to play before an 8-0 run cut the lead to 38-33 with 10:08 to go. Wells nailed a 3-pointer and converted a three-point play to give The Citadel a 45-43 lead with 6:01 on the clock.

Samford (10-8, 2-4) made only one field goal the rest of the way and was outscored 24-7 over the final 7:44.

Andy King scored 18 points and Gregg Wooten added 11 for Samford, which shot just 21.7 percent from the floor (5 of 23) in the second half.

Zach Urbanus added 13 points for The Citadel, which shot 52 percent after halftime (13 of 25) and snapped a five-game losing streak. Wells also had a game-high eight rebounds.
