Texas Southern rolls by Arkansas-Pine Bluff 65-55

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) D.D. Scarver scored 21 points and Aaric Murray added 17 as Texas Southern defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 65-55 on Monday night.

The Tigers (12-14, 8-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) shot an efficient 55.3 percent from the field and outrebounded UAPB 30-24. Murray was 7 of 11 on field goals, blocked five shots and hauled in eight rebounds, while Scarver added seven boards with four assists.

UAPB (10-17, 8-7) was held to 20-of-50 shooting (40 percent) and scored 21 points off turnovers. Marcel Mosley and DaVon Haynes scored 15 points apiece and Mosley dished out five assists.

Texas Southern was trailing 17-14 at the midway mark in the first half, but stormed ahead, closing the period on a 25-7 run. Scarver hit a 3-pointer, two layups and Murray capped the surge with a dunk to grab a 39-24 halftime lead. They coasted in the second half, leading by 23 with 10:48 remaining.
