Travele Jones scored 17 points and Texas Southern hung on to defeat MVSU 58-55 in overtime on Monday night, avenging its only conference loss of the season.

Texas Southern (15-10, 13-1 SWAC) led 26-24 at halftime, but MVSU led for most of the first half and did not trail in the last 15 minutes of the second half.

The Delta Devils led 46-40 before the Tigers scored six straight to tie it, with Jones' jumper making it 46-all. Harrison Smith's dunk for the Tigers with 1:16 left tied it at 50.

Smith scored first in overtime and Texas Southern never trailed again. Kevin Galloway made two free throws with 10 seconds left to make it 58-55, and Smith blocked William Pugh's shot in the final seconds, giving the Tigers their seventh straight victory.

D'Angelo Jackson led the Delta Devils (11-17, 10-5) with 21 points.
