Alex Vouyoukas and Michael Hale III scored 12 points each as UTSA opened the season Friday night with a 73-64 victory over UTEP.

Sei Paye added 10 points for the Roadrunners, who shot 50 percent from the field, including 7 of 14 on 3-point attempts, and had 15 steals.

John Bohannon had 12 points and Jacques Streeter 11 for UTEP, which shot 45 percent from the field but was just 7 for 21 on 3-pointers.

Paye hit a 3-pointer and two free throws during a 7-0 run that put UTSA up 13-3 in the early going. The Miners pulled within 18-14 before the Roadrunners answered with an 8-0 run to go on top 26-14 en route to a 33-25 halftime lead.

UTSA built the lead to as many as 18 points in the second half.
