Texas-Arlington rolls over Georgia Southern 92-72

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Kevin Hervey had 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Texas-Arlington to a 92-72 victory over Georgia Southern in Sun Belt Conference action on Monday night.

Hervey was 9 of 15 from the floor and hit four from long range. Drew Charles was 4 of 7 from beyond the arc for 16 points and Erick Neal added 12 for Texas-Arlington (11-2, 2-0).

The Mavericks opened league play on Wednesday with an 85-70 win over defending Sun Belt champion Georgia State, giving coach Scott Cross a 163-130 record making him the winningest coach in Texas-Arlington history.

The Mavericks, who led Georgia Southern 42-39 at the half, opened the second period with a 26-8 run for a 68-47 lead at the 10:56 mark.

Texas-Arlington hit 14 of 31 from long range, making 29 of 56 field goal attempts.

Mike Hughes led the Eagles (4-8, 0-2) with 24 and Tookie Brown added 17 points.
