Billy Kennedy has taken over the Texas A&M basketball program, leaving Murray State to replace Mark Turgeon with the Aggies.

Turgeon left last week to coach Maryland.

Kennedy, a former assistant at A&M, has twice been honored as the Ohio Valley Conference coach of the year in his five seasons with the Racers.

The hiring is pending approval by the Texas A&M System Board of Regents.
