Texas A&M-Corpus Christi holds off Houston Baptist 81-71

HOUSTON (AP) Bryce Douvier had 16 points as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi held off a late Houston Baptist rally to win 81-71 on Thursday night.

Brandon Pye and Joe Kilgore had 12 points apiece for A&M-Corpus Christi (23-6, 14-3) which has already secured a No. 2 seed in the Southland Conference Tournament.

Houston Baptist led 47-38 when Douvier made a layup to start a 13-2 run as the Islanders took their first lead midway in the second half, 51-49. They stretched that to 70-57 with 4:55 left.

HBU's Anthony Odunsi, who finished with 17, drilled a 3 to begin a run and Colter Lasher finished it with another trey as the Huskies closed to 74-71 with 1:05 left. The Islanders responded with five straight free throws and Rashawn Thomas capped the scoring with a dunk.

Jourdan Stickler had 15 points for Houston Baptist (16-14, 10-7), which currently has the No. 4 tournament seed.
