Texas A&M-Corpus Christi defeats UTSA 50-49

Terence Jones drained a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:11 remaining, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi held on for a 50-49 victory against UTSA on Wednesday night.

Jones, who led the Islanders (2-13, 1-2 Southland Conference) with 12 points, made the score 50-48 with his basket from behind the arc.

Jeromie Hill cut the margin to a point by making one of two free throws with 56 seconds left, and the Roadrunners (9-7, 2-1) had the last shot, but Melvin Johnson III could not connect on a 3-point attempt.

Hill and Stephen Franklin scored 10 points each for UTSA, which shot just 27.3 percent (18 for 66) from the floor, including 3 for 22 from 3-point range. Franklin had 10 rebounds.

Chris Hawkins-Mast had 10 points and Myron Dempsey added eight points and 11 rebounds for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, which ended an 11-game losing streak.
