Texas A&M-CC rallies in overtime to defeat New Orleans 71-67

NEW ORLEANS (AP) John Jordan sank consecutive jump shots and Rashawn Thomas added a layup during a 6-0 rally lifting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a 71-67 overtime victory over New Orleans Saturday night.

Kevin Brown sank a 3-pointer and three free throws in the final 38 seconds of regulation as New Orleans overcame a 20-point deficit to tie at 60-60. Brown added two more free throws in OT as the Privateers led 66-62 with 2:30 left.

In the next two minutes, Thomas slashed for a layup and Jordan sank back-to-back jumpers as the Islanders (10-8, 5-1 Southland) surged ahead 68-66.

Brown missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer with six seconds left.

Thomas added 13 points and 12 boards for Texas A&M-CC. Bryce Douvier scored 17 points with 10 rebounds for his first double-double. Jordan finished with 13 points.

Kevin Hill and Nate Frye led New Orleans (5-10, 1-5) with 14 points each. Brown finished with 13.
