Texas A&M-CC defeats Central Arkansas 84-73
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) Hameed Ali had 16 points and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi shot 66 percent from the field in an 84-73 victory over Central Arkansas on Thursday night.
Texas A&M-CC (12-14, 9-4 Southland Conference) built a 42-36 advantage at halftime and led the rest of the way. But LaQuentin Miles closed Central Arkansas to within 71-70 on a dunk with 5:09 left.
The Islanders answered with a 14-3 run to close out the victory as they remain alone in third place in the conference.
Zane Knowles and Rashawn Thomas each scored 14 points. Knowles was 7 of 9 from the field and Thomas was 7 of 8. Brandon Pye was 3 of 3 from 3-point range for 13 points and John Jordan added 10 points and eight assists.
Miles scored 25 points - his 11th 20-point effort in the last 15 games - and DuShaun Rice added 13 for Central Arkansas (6-17, 3-9).
