Tennessee Tech blows out D-II Piedmont 83-29

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Redshirt freshman Mason Ramsey collected a double-double in his first career game with 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Dwan Caldwell also scored 14 as Tennessee Tech thundered Division II Piedmont International 83-29 on Friday night.

The game was a season opener for the Golden Eagles. Charles Jackson also tallied a double-double for Tennessee Tech with 10 points and 13 boards, and Josiah Moore added 11 points as Tech made nearly half its field goals (48.6 percent) in the first half, leading 42-15 at the break.

Piedmont was led by Malik Milton's 13 points. The Bruins next leading scorer was Timothy Worles with 6. The Scots (3-2) shot 15 percent for the game, suffered 21 turnovers and were out-rebounded 61-28.

It was the first meeting between the two teams.
