Tennessee State rolls to 77-61 win over Reinhardt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Keron Deshields scored 14 points and Wayne Martin 13 and Tennessee State beat Reinhardt 77-61 on Tuesday night.

The Buccaneers (3-2) scored the first 13 points and led at halftime 44-20 with Martin scoring nine points and Christian Griggs-Williams all eight of his.

The NAIA Eagles (5-4) cut the deficit to 17 to start the second half but the Buccaneers answered with a 14-3 run for their biggest lead at 28 points, 65-39, with 10:38 remaining. Reinhardt made a final push with a 22-5 run to get within 11 with 4:32 left but that was as close as the Eagles would get.

Josh Cooper scored 14 points and Corey Ricks 12 for the Eagles.

The Buccaneers dominated in the paint 44-20 with the help of 17 offensive rebounds. Tennessee State had a 51-37 advantage on the boards.

Tennessee State is 3-2 for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
