Robert Covington scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Tennessee State pull away from Delaware State 59-55 on Saturday night.

Delaware State (4-6) led 39-36 before Covington knocked down a 3-pointer, sparking a 23-16 run over the final 11:45. Delaware State led 27-21 at halftime but was outscored 38-28 in the second half.

Covington made 8 of 11 shots from the field, 2 of 4 from 3-point range and 6 of 7 from the free-throw line.

Patrick Miller added 11 points for Tennessee State and his free throws and jumper during the last 2:30 of the second half helped the Tigers pull away.

Casey Walker led Delaware State with 13 points. Tyshawn Bell and Amere May each scored 12 and Marques Oliver added 10 for the Hornets, who were without leading scorer Tahj Tate.

Tennessee State (5-6) has won all three matchups between the schools.
