Syracuse Basketball: Five-Star Recruit Nick Richards Commits To UK

One of Syracuse basketball’s top targets for next year’s class has made his college choice. Unfortunately it wasn’t for the Orange, what’s the reaction?

A prized potential recruit for the Syracuse basketball team has opted to go elsewhere in 2017.

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, Nick Richards is heading to Kentucky – and not the Orange.

The five-star center announced on Thursday that he will join the Wildcats beginning in the 2017-18 season.

The 6-11 Richards, who attends The Patrick School in Elizabeth, N.J., had recently named Arizona,

    Kentucky and Syracuse his three finalists. He is ranked a top-20 prospect nationally by almost every major recruiting service.

    In all honesty, no one really expected Richards to commit to the ‘Cuse. Recruiting experts across the country anointed him a virtual lock to go to UK.

    So, Syracuse remains without a recruit in its 2017 class. Four-star point guard Shai Alexander will announce his decision this coming Monday. The Orange is in his final five, but all signs point to Alexander joining Richards at Kentucky.

    Our best short-term hope is that five-star point guard Quade Green, who will reveal his pick on Saturday, Nov. 19, chooses Syracuse over the likes of Duke, Kentucky (ugh), Temple and Villanova.
