The woman convicted of trying to extort money from University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino has lost her request to remain free pending an appeal.

U.S. District Judge Charles R. Simpson III on Friday denied the motion filed by Karen Cunagin Sypher.

Sypher is scheduled to report Wednesday to a federal prison in Florida. Sypher recently made another request for a new trial. A judge has rejected her previous attempts to win a new trial since her August conviction.

Sypher was sentenced in February to more than seven years in prison for extortion, lying to the FBI and retaliation against a witness. Prosecutors said she sought millions in cash, cars and a house from Pitino in 2009 to stay quiet about a tryst in a restaurant.
