Stutz scores 27 points, leads EKU over Belmont 81-69

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) Eric Stutz scored a career-high 27 points to help Eastern Kentucky beat Belmont 81-69 on Thursday night, snapping the Bruins five-game winning streak.

Eastern Kentucky had a 15-point lead midway through the second half. Belmont chipped away, pulling within 72-65 on Reece Chamberlain's 3-pointer with 2:53 to go. The Colonels answered with back-to-back slams by Stutz and Corey Walden to make it 76-65 with 2 minutes remaining.

Stutz then forced a turnover, Timmy Knipp drained a 3 and Isaac McGlone made a pair of free throws to seal it.

Stutz shot 10 of 11 from the floor and had six rebounds and three steals. Walden finished with 15 points, eight assists and three steals for Eastern Kentucky (13-9, 5-4 Ohio Valley), which forced 18 Belmont turnovers.

Evan Bradds scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Belmont (15-8, 7-3).
