Stony Brook routs UMBC 89-49

Bryan Douhger scored 15 points and Stony Brook defeated Maryland-Baltimore County 89-49 on Wednesday, its largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent.

The Seawolves (9-6, 4-0 America East Conference), are off to their best conference start in program history. Marcus Rouse and Al Rapier each added 12 points, and Tommy Brenton scored 11 for Stony Brook, which won its sixth game in a row.

The Seawolves shot a season-best 58.9 percent (33 of 56) from the field. UMBC struggled, shooting 32.8 percent (19 of 58).

Stony Brook led 41-19 at halftime and used a 38-13 run in the second half to build its biggest lead at 83-43 with 3:22 remaining.

Ryan Cook scored 14 points and Brian Neller added 13 for the Retrievers (2-14, 1-3), who have lost seven of their past eight and have allowed at least 89 points in each of their past five losses.
