Stony Brook defats Merchant Marine 89-54

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Carson Puriefoy and Bryan Sekunda scored 15 points apiece and two teammates had doube-doubles as Stony Brook rolled to an 89-54 win over Division III Merchant Marine on Sunday.

Jameel Warney added 13 points and Tyrell Sturdivant 11 and both had 10 rebounds as the Seawolves (2-2) dominated the boards 50-19, including 23 on the offensive end.

David Smith led Merchant Marine (0-4) with 21 points, Matthew Miller added 15 and Robbie Kennedy 10.

Stony Brook, which led 43-28 at the half, shot 51.6 percent from the field and even better from the 3-point line. The Seawolves, led by Sekunda's 5 of 6, were 10 of 18 behind the arc (55.6 percent). They weren't much better from the foul line, going 15 of 26 (57.7 percent) but the Mariners were just 6 of 6.

Merchant Marine was 10 of 23 from 3-point range with Smith making half.
