Muhammad El-Amin scored 20 points and Stony Brook held off New Hampshire for a 69-63 victory on Sunday.
The Seawolves (11-5, 3-0 America East Conference), who have won four consecutive games, ended a five-game losing streak to New Hampshire to continue the program's best start since 1990-91.
Stony Brook made only one shot from the field in the final 3:08 as the Wildcats (5-8, 0-2) gradually cut a 65-57 deficit to 65-63 on Ferg Myrick's 3-pointer with 46 seconds left.
Chris Martin hit two free throws to extend the advantage to 67-63 with 15 seconds left and then had a dunk with 2 seconds to play for the final margin.
Martin's dunk was Stony Brook's first field goal since Tommy Brenton's layup with 3:09 remaining.
Brenton and Martin scored 14 each.
Tyrone Conley scored 15, Alvin Abreu had 13 and James Valladares added 11 points for New Hampshire.
