St. Peter's earns road win over Monmouth, 61-51

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) Trevis Wyche scored just seven points, but they all came from the free throw line on 7-of-8 shooting in the final 1:16 as Saint Peter's held off Monmouth in its final road game of the season, 61-51.

The home team had won the previous eight games between the rivals, a streak that dates back to the 2003-04 season. St. Peter's (11-16, 7-11) swept the home-and-home series with the Hawks in their first season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Chris Burke scored 16 points to lead St. Peter's, with Desi Washington adding 14 and Marvin Dominique 12.

Josh James was 6 of 12 from the field and 6 of 10 from the line to lead Monmouth (10-19, 4-14) with 18 points.

The Peacocks close out their regular season with home games against Fairfield and Niagara.
