St. Joseph's takes control against UMass in 74-57 win

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) Isaiah Miles had 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists to lead Saint Joseph's past Massachusetts 74-57 on Wednesday night.

DeAndre Bembry added 18 points with nine rebounds, four assists and three steals for St. Joseph's (23-5, 12-3 Atlantic 10).

Bembry made a layup and a jumper that capped a 15-7 run to start the second half to give the Hawks a 50-38 lead with 15 minutes to play. Miles' 3 about four minutes later made it 57-40.

UMass put together an 11-2 run, and Donte Clark's layup with 5:44 left cut the Minutemen's deficit to 59-51 with 5:42 left, but UMass couldn't get closer. St. Joseph's reeled off 12-straight points, and Miles' 3 with 2:52 remaining made it 71-51.

Aaron Brown added 14 points, four boards and four assists for the Hawks.

Clark led UMass (12-15, 5-10) with 20 points and Jabarie Hinds added 19.
