St. Francis (NY) 64, Mount St. Mary's 54

Ben Mockford scored 17 points and Jalen Cannon added 10 points and nine rebounds to lead St. Francis (N.Y.) past Mount St. Mary's 64-54 on Thursday night in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams.

Mockford shot 44 percent (7 for 16) from the field and made five 3-pointers in the win.

St. Francis (2-4, 1-0) led 14-13 with 11:06 remaining in the first half before using a 14-6 run to take a 28-19 lead into halftime. Mockford opened the second half with a jumper to give St. Francis an 11-point lead, 30-19.

Mount St. Mary's (1-5, 0-1) cut the lead to seven, 42-35, with 11:21 left, but the Terriers reeled off another run, this time 21-12, to take a 64-47 lead with 2 minutes to play.

Kelvin Parker led Mount St. Mary's with 16 points and Julian Norfleet and Raven Barber each chipped in with 11.
