St. Francis (N.Y.) holds off Dartmouth 69-61

Akeem Johnson had his first career double-double as St. Francis (N.Y.) held off Dartmouth 69-61 on Tuesday night for the Terriers' fifth straight win.

Johnson had a career-high 22 points while shooting 7 for 10 from the field and 8 of 16 from the free-throw line. He also had 10 rebounds for St. Francis (6-3).

The Big Green (3-6) rallied from a 12-point deficit to get within two points at 48-46 with 10:30 left. Johnson pushed the lead back to five with a free throw and a layup.

Dartmouth got back within three points on three more occasions, the last at 64-61 with 57 seconds left. St. Francis then made 5 of 6 free throws to seal the win.

Akeem Bennett added 13 points for the Terriers, who led 48-27 at halftime.

St. Francis shot 51.2 percent from the field (22 of 43) while the Big Green shot 37.3 percent (22 of 59).

Kirk Crecco scored 19 points for Dartmouth.
