St Andrews-Mercer beats St Andrews 62-33

MACON, Ga. (AP) Ike Nwamu scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting, T.J. Hallice grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds, and Mercer beat St. Andrews 62-33 on Tuesday in an exhibition game for the Knights.

Phillip Leonard had 10 assists and the Bears (4-4) outshot the Knights from the field 53.7 percent to 27.5 percent.

Jeff Gulley led St. Andrews (3-3), an NAIA member, with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Mercer opened with a 19-4 run capped by a layup by Jordan Strawberry, but the Knights replied with a 10-2 run to trail by seven, 23-16. Nwamu hit three 3-pointers in the half and the Bears led 32-19 at halftime, outshooting the Knights 50 percent to 31.8 percent.

The Bears used a 12-2 run in the second half to pull away 44-21, then cruised, shooting 58.8 percent from the field to 22.2 percent for the Knights.
