Spieth, Brown beat Central Connecticut State 67-55

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) Steven Spieth scored 19 points with a season-high 10 rebounds and Brown won its third straight, 67-55 over Central Connecticut State on Monday.

Spieth made back-to-back 3-pointers and Rafael Maia added another to cap an 11-0 run, putting the Bears up 63-46 with 5:47 to go.

Brown (6-6) built most of its 36-21 halftime lead with a 9-0 run capped at 25-14 by Cedric Kuakumensah's layup with 5:40 left in the period.

Kuakumensah added 13 points, nine rebounds and five blocks, Tavon Blackmon scored 16 points and Maia grabbed 10 boards.

Matt Mobley led CCSU (2-9) with 22 points and Faronte Drakeford added 13. The Blue Devils got as close as 52-46 with a 6-0 run midway through the second but got no closer.

Brown overcame 21 turnovers by shooting 9 of 20 from 3-point range and outrebounding the Blue Devils 43-31.
