South Florida beats East Carolina 58-50

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Ruben Guerrero scored 13 points and Corey Allen Jr. added 12 to help South Florida beat East Carolina 58-50 on Saturday night.

Guerrero shot 6 of 7 from the floor and added seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Allen had two steals and two blocks, and Chris Perry chipped in 10 points for South Florida (7-8, 1-1 American Athletic Conference).

South Florida's Troy Holston Jr. hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 42 with 8:17 remaining, sparking a 19-10 surge to seal it for the Bulls.

East Carolina led by as many as six points early in the second half, led 44-42 with 7:45 remaining, and then went nearly six minutes without a bucket before Caleb White drained a 3 at the 1:37 mark.

B.J. Tyson scored 16 points, and Terry Whisnant added 11 to lead East Carolina (7-8, 0-2).
