Bruce Ellington scored 18 points and Sam Muldrow added 14 as South Carolina held off a furious second-half charge to defeat Wofford 64-53 on Saturday night.

The Terriers pulled within four points late in the second half before Muldrow and Ellington took control for the Gamecocks (7-1).

Wofford's Jamar Diggs was called for his second technical foul after a hard foul on Ellington, and South Carolina converted three of the four free throws to take a 52-45 lead with 5:08 remaining.

Muldrow added a 3-pointer on the Gamecocks' next possession and followed that with a tip-in to give South Carolina a 57-50 advantage.
