Smith leads balanced UNC Greensboro past The Citadel 82-66 (Feb 15, 2018)
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Marvin Smith scored 18 points with four 3-pointers, leading four into double figures, and North Carolina Greensboro took control midway through the first half, defeating The Citadel 82-66 on Thursday.
UNC Greensboro (21-6, 12-2 Southern Conference), which knocked off previously undefeated SoCon leader ETSU by 18 points on Monday, pushed its win streak to five games - 10 of its last 11 - and held The Citadel (9-17, 4-10) to 35-percent shooting with 15 turnovers. The Bulldogs lead the league in scoring at 85.5 points per game.
Isaiah Miller scored 15 points, Kyrin Galloway 12 and James Dickey scored 10 with 10 rebounds for UNCG.
Kaelon Harris opened the game with a 3-pointer and The Citadel led for more than nine minutes before Jordy Kuiper's layup gave the Spartans a 23-21 lead that grew to 37-30 by halftime.
Dickey scored the first four points of the second half and UNCG put the hammer down, building leads of up to 25 points.
Zane Najdawi and Matt Frierson scored 15 each for The Citadel, Frierson with five 3-pointers.
