Butler is back in Indiana after a rough return trip from the Final Four, and coach Brad Stevens already is looking forward to next season.
''On the plane ride home, all I was doing was planning out the rest of our spring workouts and getting ready for what I need to do in the next month to help next year's team progress the right way,'' Stevens said Tuesday night. ''In coaching, you move on to what's next.''
It doesn't look as if Stevens' next step includes a departure for a bigger job, either.
''I haven't heard from one school,'' he said. ''So I'm not worried about it.''
Butler shot 18.8 percent from the field and lost 53-41 to Connecticut in the national title game Monday night. The Bulldogs also lost in last year's title game.
''Right now what's going through my head is that I wish we could have figured out a way to win it,'' Stevens said. ''I find it amazing that if we would have shot 25 percent from the floor we would have had a chance to win the game.''
Butler's return flight from Houston to Indianapolis was delayed due to maintenance problems with the plane. Stevens said the Bulldogs stayed at the team hotel an additional five hours while waiting for their flight.
The delay forced the school to push its scheduled pep rally back to Wednesday, and about 20 fans were on hand when the Bulldogs arrived at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
''I met with our team and I told them that I think we have a lot of people who appreciate you win or lose,'' Stevens said. ''I think that's a pretty unique thing and a great thing.''
Forward Matt Howard, who went 1 for 13 from the field against the Huskies, said he has received nothing but support from friends and family since the loss.
''They're proud of what we were able to do,'' Howard said. ''They're happy that they were able to share it with us in some way.''
