Singler returning to Duke
Duke junior Kyle Singler will be returning for his senior season.
FOXSports.com first reported Singler would make the announcement.
Singler said in a statement released by the school that he was looking forward to one more year in college.
"I love being here at Duke and am excited about next year,'' Singler said. "I had two great options in front of me, but I did not want to miss out on all of the great things to come in a senior season.''
Singler averaged 17.7 points and 7 rebounds per game last season and will make the Blue Devils the preseason favorites to repeat after beating Butler in the national title game earlier this month.
Singler is one of the few players who was expected to be taken in the first round of June's NBA draft not to, at the least, test the NBA waters.
Multiple NBA executives told FOXSports.com that Singler would have been taken somewhere in the 20-30 range.
Duke loses seniors Jon Scheyer, Brian Zoubek and Lance Thomas but will add one of the nation's top freshmen in point guard Kyrie Irving. They return Nolan Smith, the Plumlee brothers — Mason and Miles — and Andre Dawkins.
