Simons notches 19, Central Michigan tops Ball State 83-53
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) John Simons had 19 points, and Chris Fowler had 18 points and eight assists to lead Central Michigan to an 83-60 win over Ball State on Saturday.
The Chippewas (20-5, 10-4 Mid-American) won their fifth game in a row and moved into a first-place tie in the West Division of the MAC.
Braylon Rayson had 13 points and Rayshawn Simmons added 10 points, six assists and five rebounds for Central Michigan, which had 18 assists and made 29 of 50 (58 percent) field goals.
Sean Sellers scored 19, Franko House had 12 points and Bo Calhoun added 11 for Ball State (7-18, 2-12).
Up just two early in the second, the Chippewas scored 38 of the next 52 points. Central Michigan outscored the Cardinals 42-24 in the second half.
Ball State coughed up 13 turnovers while Central Michigan had just four.
